Cruiser Intro

The Cruiser fleet is Sligo Yacht Club has been racing in the bay for over thirty years now.

During the season we usually race on Wednesday and Friday evenings, gathering at the Public Pier beside the RNLI station from 6pm.  There is also racing on some Sunday afternoons at the start and end of the season, but please check the Racing Calendar for full details.

Racing is conducted under the standard RSS rules and the club uses ECHO, IRC and level rating rules to calculate results.

We have no restrictions on the type of boats that are allowed to compete in club races, however the current trend for new entrants in the fleet is into J24 keelboats.

We therefore encourage potential boat owners to looks at the J24 class. These boats offer great value for competitive tight racing.  They have an excellent IRC rating.

If you are interested in crewing on a Cruiser then please don’t hesitate to contact the Fleet Captain, come down to the pier on one of the racing nights or simply pop down to the club after racing on any night and ask at the Bar.
